Netiquette, by Virginia Shea, page 99
- Document cases where problems are caused by lost files or deleted
email. With a little luck and a lot of caution on your part, these will
all happen to other people.
- Lobby within your company for a corporate response to the problem of archiving and backup. Write memos to your boss about the
potential dangers of lost files. Get together with like-minded colleagues in an informal working group (not a "committee"; that's a
dirty word these days). Produce a report on the potential financial
damage to the company from lost records and the cost-effective
solutions that could be implemented now, before disaster strikes.
Use of your own company's favored jargon will dramatically increase your chances of success.
